The schools workshop consists of a carousel of activities designed primarily for the the 7 – 10 age group. Its aim is to provide hands-on challenging, fun and informative experiences that link to many aspects of the curriculum. Also giving pupils the opportunity to meet scientists, engineers, expedition members, rangers and animal welfare experts who operate in the marine environments.

Who are the movers and shakers at Wetlands 2027?
Meet Elissa Phillips who will be joining us to inspire us with her incredible life and work
Elissa is a UK ocean conservation presenter and one of the most compelling voices for the sea. She has campaigned internationally against commercial whaling. As a marine conservation worker, she documented whale kills in Iceland firsthand. She then brought those realities directly to the global policy stage.
At COP29, she spoke on the issue of commercial whaling. She also moderated a high-profile panel at the UN Ocean Summit, connecting ocean protection with human rights. Her work sits at the intersection of environmental defence, policy, and public engagement. Because of that breadth, she is equally at home in a parliamentary hall, a festival field, or a primary school classroom.
She speaks with warmth, directness, and a refusal to make the ocean feel like someone else’s problem.

Join the scientists and educators of Jersey Marine Conservation who will introduce you to rock pool surveys, underwater photography, thermal drones, Living Wall tiles and BRUVs (What are those you ask).

Each of the 3 slots that can accommodate up to 100 pupils.
We want to fill all the places and would like as many schools to attend as possible.
Please on the form choose a 1 2 & 3 time slot choice if you can.
Before arriving divide your school into groups of 12. Name tags are nice and please have a clear tag for those who cannot be photographed. If you take images please share them with us and add a FaceBook/ Instagram review. Greying out faces and sensitive information is fine and you can see evidence of that in our pictures.
There will be a 8 activity zones.

The Robot Vehicle will be outside and under gazebos (if necessary) and it can be cold out there. There are wall pegs in the Rocco corridor for jackets etc and there will be a water fountain to fill drinking bottles.
Toilet are in the corridor linking the corridor to the bar.
There will be disinfectant wipes at locations around the event.
